About Ozone

Ozone is a type of natural gas, a relatively unstable molecule made up of three atoms of oxygen (O3 – trioxygen). It is found in nature with a higher percentage on the ozone layer, but also, can be produced with Corona discharge or UV for commercial and industrial applications.

Ozone is a pale blue gas with a distinctly piercing scent. Ozone’s odor is reminiscent of chlorine and detectable by many people at concentrations of as little as 0.1 ppm in air.

about ozone sobre o ozono

The use of ozone can be found in Clinical environments, in medical and aesthetic treatments, or simply, to disinfect and sterilize instruments and rooms; Domestically, to treat the drinking water or to wash fruits, vegetables and other ingredients, to purify the air and, for the treatment of swimming pools water; or at Industrial level, where, in addition to the above-mentioned uses, ozone has many more applications.

Nowadays, the use of Ozone is increasing. There are more and more applications being developed where, the use of Ozone, is one of the most important factors of the solution. Every day there are new studies and research to prove the effectiveness of ozone.

What is Ozone?

The oxygen atom is unstable in the atomic form. Oxygen is stable in the diatomic form as O2. The air we breathe today is made up of about 21% oxygen. It makes oxygen one of the most common molecules found in nature today.

Ozone is a triatomic form of oxygen, three oxygen atoms together to form one molecule.

About Ozone Molecule Sobre o ozono molécula

Ozone is a triatomic form of oxygen, therefore, meaning that the molecule, ozone, is made up of 3 oxygen atoms. Unlike oxygen, ozone is a visible gas with a light blue colour at very high concentrations. However, at low concentrations ozone is colourless. Ozone also has a distinct odor that is noticeable at very low levels and may be associated with a “clean” smell, at higher levels ozone has a very pungent odor. It is an unstable gas that readily decomposes to oxygen naturally. The gas is also a highly reactive gas that acts as a very strong chemical oxidant.

Ozone is 100% natural!
